There are many types of insulation grants available for most of the UK that fall under various schemes like the national "Affordable Warmth scheme", the "Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) scheme" along with various local incentive schemes.
The qualification process changes regularly and if you have been unsuccessful before we recommend that you try again every six months or so as the criteria alters.
The easiest way to see if you or your household qualifies for any of these grants is to complete the form and your local assessor will advise what grants are available.
Loft insulation grants
About 25% of heat from UK homes is lost through the roof, specifically the loft/attic area.
Insulation should be applied to the loft area to a depth of 270mm, both between the joists and above.
Grants are only available for England, Scotland and Wales.
Room in roof insulation grants
If your attic is accessed by a fixed staircase (not a ladder) and you have an attic room or dormer roof then you could benefit from Room in roof insulation.
Many attic conversions were constructed with little or no insulation applied to the walls and voids.
Cavity wall insulation grants
About 35% of all heat loss from UK homes takes place through external walls.
Most homes built after 1920 have twin exterior walls with a narrow cavity between them.
This can be filled with an insulating material by injecting insulating material into the wall.
This restricts any warmth passing between them, reducing the money you spend on heating.
Solid / External Wall Insulation
Solid walls can usually be insulated either by applying high-density insulation material internally, externally or both.
If you're unsure whether your walls have a cavity in them you can usually check by either looking at the pattern of bricks or by measuring the thickness of the walls next to a door or window.
